Scarlet Bottle Brush

A wonderful thing about living in a semi-rural area in Western Australia is the gardens in spring. In my neighbourhood the gardens blend with the natural bush. Wild flowers abound. A few houses down the road from my place, there are several large Scarlet Bottle Brush (Melaleuca phoenicea formally known as Callistemon phoeniceus) shrubs. Some of the bright red flowers catch the sun in the late afternoon – making this the ideal time to highlight the scarlet colouring when photograph them.
